Our GOI system description mentions that it can measure dimensions, shapes, distances, and sizes—but can it also be used like a caliper to determine the dimensions and positional coordinates of parts?
The sizes and distances measured on GOI are all quantified in pixels. With the resolution clearly defined, we can accurately determine the actual dimensions of the part.
One thing worth noting is that when a camera captures a stereoscopic image, what it produces is actually a flat picture—meaning measurements of objects that don’t lie in the same plane become problematic. Similarly, when using a short-focus lens, inaccuracies can also occur at the edges of the image.
The image captured by the camera itself forms a coordinate plane, with each point positioned precisely relative to the origin. Depending on the resolution, the actual coordinates of these points are also uniquely defined.
GOI's measurement functionality is similar to AOI's measurement algorithms, but it covers a broader range of measurement items—details of which are provided in the comprehensive instruction manual.
